I’m a CELTA qualified English language teacher teaching business English in language schools in Malta and the UK but… I’m also a chartered accountant (FCPFA) with a Masters in Industrial Relations and HR and a postgrad diploma in Marketing Management. Until Covid I taught business strategy and marketing on MBA programmes in Canada, Holland and Czech Republic as well as teaching the strategy module of the Cipfa professional exams in the UK. Definitely not the typical background of an English teacher !
My aim as an English communications coach is to give you the language skills you need to confidently perform well in professional situations where English is the language of communication.
I offer three English coaching services:
PREPARATION FOR SENIOR LEVEL JOB INTERVIEWS
Typically when a senior manager or C suiter has to interview in English and it is not their main language they are nervous about pronunciation, making mistakes with syntax or grammar, anxious that they might not have the appropriate vocabulary. This is where I come in. We will work together for three 90-minute sessions. In the first half of each session I put you through the worse interview grilling you’ll ever have and then in the second half I offer advice on the things you need to fix and we work together on fixing those things.
PREPARATION FOR PRESENTATIONS AND TALKS
When English isn’t your main language no matter how well you know your subject it’s normal to feel nervous at the prospect of delivering a speech or presentation. There can also be a cultural difference in giving presentations in English speaking environments. I can help you have the right amount of appropriate text on your Powerpoints and guide you in the delivery of your presentation – not just pronunciation and syntax etc but also speed, use of voice, pauses etc. Usually three 90-minute sessions are sufficient.
COACHING FOR JOURNALISTS
I coach journalists who present TV segments or who conduct TV interviews in English. Generally these journalists have excellent syntax and grammar with a really wide range of vocabulary but… their pronunciation and speed can be a bit off. This is where they like the help that I can provide.
